Cable telephone services is a form of digital telephony over cable TV networks maintained by installing a special telephone interface that converts the analog signals from the customer's in-home wiring into a digital signal, which is then sent over the cable connection to the company's switching center, where it is connected to the PSTN. Cable Internet access is a form of broadband Internet access that uses the cable television (CATV) infrastructure. Cable Internet access provides network edge connectivity from the Internet service provider to an end user. At the present time, this type of communication connection is being substituted by satellite television, wireless telephone and internet services.
